Editorial Reviews

Excellent children's book! Highly recommend it!ByJeffrey Bushon September 5, 2014
Format: Kindle Edition
What a great lesson for children -- and adults! God made us for a purpose! This brought about a discussion of the purpose that God made us for. Our 2 year old son loved that the story was about mowing - his favorite thing to do with Daddy. The illustrations are beautiful and the storyline is so meaningful. We loved the questions at the end to see if our kids understood the lesson behind the story!

5.0 out of 5 starsMy 4 year old loved the story of Louie the lawnmower

My 4 year old loved the story of Louie the lawnmower. She loved all the characters and kept looking at the pictures asking what each tool's name was. We had a wonderful conversation after about what God made us for and she hasn't stopped talking about it since. We can't wait for the next adventure of Louie and his friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Louie's Big Day delighted me! I thought the idea was unique

Louie's Big Day delighted me! I thought the idea was unique, the writing superb, and the illustrations professionally done. All through the book I kept thinking, "I'd love to give this to my friends with young children." Maria Morgan has a winner here, and I can't wait to see what she does with future Louie books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Louie's BIG Day! Will Leave You Begging for "Mow!"
ByStephanie Reedon September 8, 2014
Format: Kindle Edition
Maria Morgan has such a sweet, reassuring spirit as she tells the story of Louie, the lawnmower who is apprehensive about doing the job he was created to do. He misses his old friends at the hardware store, too. To Louie's relief, the work is easy and he's even reunited with his old friends. There's a promise of "mow" adventures to come for Louie and his friends and an added bonus of discussion questions suitable for use with a Sunday school class or church group. The illustrations by Sherrie Molitor are whimsical, especially the ones that give us a glimpse of what goes on in a hardware store after the lights go out. Maria Morgan has persevered in her passion to bring you Louie's adventures. Don't miss this opportunity to share her first book with your family. It won't be the last!

5.0 out of 5 stars By Holly Pearson on August 29, 2014

My three year old and I read this together for bedtime and we BOTH enjoyed it! The story line was great for a mom (who gets easily bored with children's books that seem to have no clear purpose) and the excitement and illustrations were a big hit with my daughter. (she gave it two very enthusiastic thumbs up!) I also really appreciated the follow up questions at the end of the book. As a mom, reading is not only for fun, but also for education and learning moments; anytime those two are blended together it makes for a great success in my eyes. I loved being able to re-cap and really see what she retained from the story, and it gave us an opportunity to talk about how it relates to our own lives. Wonderful book, looking forward to more in the series!

5.0 out of 5 stars A versatile book and great teaching tool!

The book is an adorable story about facing ones fears and Louie the Lawnmower takes you through his journey of the unknown, ultimately realizing his real purpose in life. It is a sweet bedtime story for little ones to enjoy with their parents as well as a great book that can be used for writing assignments of primary grades. As a former elementary teacher, I would have been excited to use this book in the classroom with such a versatile design. The illustrations are captivating and thought provoking. I highly recommend the book for parents and elementary school teachers. Looking forward to Louie's next adventure.

My grandkids loved the book "Louie's Big Day"! It is a book we will be reading often! After reading we all enjoyed the questions at the end of the book. It made for some great discussions about God making us for a special purpose and facing our fears. Also, how important friends are in our life. Five stars from our family!

5.0 out of 5 starsMaybe the only, but still the best lawnmower story I've ever read!

*Book Description*Louie the Lawnmower is excited, and more then a little nervous, to have a new home. He likes his new "people. He's worried about whether he'll like the taste of grass and he already misses his friends at the hardware store. He knows God made him for mowing lawns but he's still worried about his job. When it comes time to show his skills will he be pleasantly surprised? And will his owner?*What I liked*Louie the Lawnmower is a great children's book...not for a fifteen yr. old girl but I can see the appeal for kids like my little 3 & 1 year old little boy cousins who I plan to gift this to. The illustrations are absolutely adorable and I loved Louie's friends. Of course you can imagine how awesome it is that she plans to use them in more books. I also thought it was great that she had discussion questions for kids!*What I didn't like*Nothing! Kids will love this book and so will their parents because it is well written and such a kid friendly book!*My Rating**Why my Rating is what it is*My rating is five stars for multiple reasons. Great writing, adorable pictures ( can't tell you enough on the brilliantly colored pictures!), and just a cute original story line. Normally for the size of the book my review might be 4 1/2 but this one has an added bonus, which is the discussion questions. These questions are perfect for kids and should be relatively easy to understand.I love that Maria added them in!

I have two boys ages 4 and 2 who are obsessed with lawnmowers and yard equipment. I stumbled on this little book while on Amazon and knew I had to get it for them. It's a cute little story and my boys LOVE IT! We have had to read it multiple times in the past couple days and my 2 year old who normally isn't too into books is just enthralled. I hope Louie has more adventures and more books coming out.

This is a wonderfully written and illustrated children's book about how a young lawnmower feels about his first time cutting grass. I received the ebook from book fun.org for a fair and honest opinion.
