Editorial Reviews

Louie and the Leaf Pile

By S. Maness on August 25, 2015
Format: PaperbackIn Louie and the Leaf Pile, Louie learns a valuable lesson in friendship and asking for help.I read this story to my three youngest children ages 3, 5, and 7, with my 10, 15, and 17 listening along as well. This story is beautifully illustrated with bright simple pictures that go along well with the story. I enjoyed reading it to my kids and hearing their answers to the discussions questions at the end.The book is about friendship and that sometimes we need to put aside our pride and not be afraid to ask for help.Louie wants to clean up the yard. He let his pride get in the way and he tried to take care of the yard by himself. His plan could have been disastrous if his friends hadn't helped him. Louie learned that everyone needs help sometimes. When we work together the job is a lot easier and safer for everyone. Here is what my 5 year old son says about the book: "He (Louie) munched the grass. And he put a scarf on his engine. His friends helped him. I learned don't put a scarf on the engine. Can we read it again?"So I guess there are more than one lesson you can get from this book. :)

A Wonderful Story About Teamwork
By Susan J. Reinhardt on September 19, 2015
Format: PaperbackI read the first Louie the Lawnmower book and couldn't wait to see what further adventures Louie would share. While I don't have any little ones, I found Louie and the Leaf Pile totally charming and wouldn't hesitate a moment to give it for a gift.Louie discovers he can't always be the hero. His friends help him out when he gets into trouble, and then they each do their part to get the job done. The questions in the back give anyone reading to a youngster lots of ideas for discussion. Colorful illustrations would delight kids of any age (even if they're young at heart like me). Bravo! Great job, Ms. Morgan. I hope there will be many more Louie the Lawnmower books coming out.Disclaimer: The author provided me with a review copy for my honest opinion.

I like Louie, and these stories
By Bernie on September 19, 2015
Format: PaperbackI like Louie, and these stories. I also like that someone is writing good stories for children, good stories with a good message. I'm sure kids will easily identify with Louie, and in so doing will learn some valuable lessons. I can't think of a better bonding, learning and teaching scenario than taking time to read to a little one, and these books provide for that. I think this one is even better than the first one, and that one is good. Kudos to the author who seems to be not only a gifted writer, but intuitive in the right direction as well. Written with love, hopefully shared the same way.

Even better than the first one!
By Anne Peterson on August 25, 2015
Format: PaperbackLouie isn't your regular lawn mower. He wants to come up with a solution but he's considerate of those around him. But the problem comes when his solution creates a bigger problem. This is an adorable book that will get your young ones thinking of the values that are important in life. Problem solving, being sensitive to others, and recognizing we need others. You'll love the vibrant illustrations you fell in love with in the first book in this series. The questions at the end will give your little ones something to think about. I highly recommend this book.

Format: PaperbackThis is a cute story that my 3 year old nephew would love. The pictures are colorful and engaging and the lesson to learn is appropriate for any age.Sometimes we need help. Sometimes we can't do everything by ourselves.A good message for kids to hear again and again. I like that the author included some fun and thought-provoking questions at the end of the story for kids to interact with the book some more. Great job!

5.0 out of 5 starsWonderful story for children and adults to enjoy
ByKarina Ruizon November 2, 2015
Format: Paperback
I received a copy of Louie and the leaf pile by the author and was told to write a honest review on the book. As a person that works in the children's ministry i think that the Louie and the Lead pile is a great children's book with biblical application that applies to everyone. I was very impressed by how simple and easy to read the book and as I read i tried to think as a child. The story is simple, direct and fun, the drawings are absolutely beautiful. One of my favorite things was the buildup of the story and how Louie learns a valuable lesson at the end. The questions in the back will help engage the kids and prompt them to ask more about what God says about working together, i was reminded that as Christians we are the body of Christ and each of us was made to function as a different part but together we make the body and the body can not move with out the legs, or the feet, just as the body can not move without the eyes and ears.
